Spotlight on Recommended Practice [55R-09]
Analyzing S-Curves

Abstract:

This recommended practice provides descriptions of S-curves with the intent to improve understanding and communication among project participants and stakeholders when preparing and analyzing graphics based upon project schedule information. The RP describes different types of S-curves that may be generated in a project, provided the proper information is loaded into the schedule and the status of the information is maintained throughout the duration of the project.

Speaker:                                                                John P. Orr, PSP FACE

John Orr is a Senior Scheduling Engineer for AECOM Technical Services, and he also serves as the Chair of the AACE Technical Board and President of the North Florida Section.  He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering, and he is certified as a Planning & Scheduling Professional by AACE.  John was named a Fellow of AACE in 2019.

John has long experience in construction management, including scheduling, cost control, value engineering, project administration and claims analysis.  For the majority of his career he has represented owners, but he has occasionally worked for contractors …  He likes to get his boots muddy from time to time.

John has done many presentations at AACE conferences, including the very popular “Great Debate” sessions where he represents the “Evil Owners’ Representatives” versus the “Greedy Contractors.”

He has worked on a wide variety of projects including commercial construction, government offices and embassies, educational & research facilities, justice facilities, railway/transit, highways and bridges, wastewater and water treatment plants, nuclear power stations and hazardous waste sites.  From 2006 to the present, he has been assigned as scheduling consultant to a government agency, providing construction scheduling reviews and claims resolution services for their projects.

RSVPs must be received on or before 5pm on Wednesday, 09-November-2022.  Your friends and colleagues are always welcome; membership in AACE is not required. In the event that you must cancel your reservation, please inform us at least 24 hours before the meeting.

Click here to RSVP before end of business day Wednesday, 11/09/2022.

Please register by Wednesday 11/09/2022, and an invitation including the Webinar link will be e-mailed to you.  For AACE members who hold professional certifications, Webinar attendance counts toward renewal points as long as online attendance for the entire presentation is verified.
